BBC Power of Sport

We are extremely proud to announce that the Sport Action Zone was nominated for and has won the BBC London Power of Sport award and will be officially revealed on 4th December! This award is given to a project or initiative that is making a real impact and involving the local community. The awards recognise real projects, and the people behind them, that have used the power of sport to make a real difference in their community and change people’s lives for the better.

Sport England is supporting the BBC Power of Sport Awards because they celebrate sustainable projects that have increased the number of people taking part as well and also tackling some of the big challenges facing grassroots sport.

Unveiling of the Tennis Practice Wall

On Monday 16th November the SAZ in partnership with Barclays Spaces for Sports unveiled a new tennis wall at the Lilian Baylis Community Hub. The event was well attended and included speeches by Mark Petchey, Former Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash, Global Retail Banking Director at Barclays David Rutley and Brian Dickens Director, Sport Action Zone.
